This Hilton dual branded property in Kalamazoo, MI features both new construction and adaptive reuse and was Green Globe certified in May 2021. The 6-story, 114 room Hilton Garden Inn is located in the historic Rose Street Market building, which was originally constructed in 1915 as a Masonic temple and was later used for shops and offices. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. Maintaining the original architectural integrity was key so the public spaces incorporate the three stacked ceremonial auditoriums. Premium guestrooms feature large round windows original to the building, providing a “portal” view of the cityscape. Research into the building’s history informed the color palette and overall interior design. Actual instruments from Heritage Guitars and scenes from the iconic local factory (formerly Gibson Guitar Factory) feature prominently in the art throughout.
The brand new, pet friendly Home2 Suites offers 106 extended stay suites. Exposed brick in the lobby connects the Home2 with its historic sister property, but the Home2 has a completely different aesthetic. The modern interiors are punctuated with vibrant colors and embodies an urban “street” vibe along with unexpected, whimsical elements like a chandelier composed of repurposed bicycle parts. Shared amenity spaces include 2100 SF of meeting space, saline pool, fitness center, outdoor courtyard with fire pit and full-service restaurant and bar.
The Mercantile is a boutique hotel in the heart of the Arts and Warehouse District of New Orleans. Located in a historic sugar refinery, the warehouse feel is preserved with the use of brick and steel but also incorporates local artwork and upscale finishes and amenities that create a unique Crescent City experience. The industrial style of The Mercantile’s previous life is celebrated throughout the design from the iron studded details on the guestroom furniture to the exposed light bulbs and reclaimed wood planked ceiling above the bar. The rich, vibrant colors incorporated throughout the design, are representational of the energetic culture that is New Orleans.
The Holiday Inn in Columbus, IN underwent a major renovation and expansion when it was converted from another brand in 2017. The hotel offers a full restaurant and bar as well as 1600 SF of banquet space. The contemporary design was inspired by the mid-century art and modern architecture that defines the local area. The color palette incorporates earth tones with pops of color to create a modern, urban feel.
The DoubleTree by Hilton in Lafayette, Indiana is a uniquely modern hotel, conveniently situated between downtown and Purdue University. In 2017, it was converted from another brand, undergoing an extensive renovation including enlarged and updated guestrooms and entirely new public spaces. This beautiful hotel now boasts over 3,000 square feet of event space. Subtle hints of black and metallic old gold pay homage to Purdue’s school colors.
This Marriott property is a 200-room, new construction completed in 2019. The registration desk, lobby, bar, meeting room, and dining areas are located on the fourth floor, and with floor to ceiling windows spanning across the south side, guests are welcomed with a breathtaking view of the Gulf of Mexico. The refined design is inspired by the soft lines and hues of the oceanfront at sunset. When guests aren’t enjoying the lounge areas surrounding an outdoor lazy river, the balance of warm wood tones, concrete, and copper details draw an energy to the U-shaped bar at the center of the space.
The Wyndham Philadelphia is perfectly positioned in the heart of the Old City historic district. The contemporary design pays tribute to the rich history of the city though clever, subtle details and a fresh take on Philadelphia inspired art.
The Best Western Tides, recipient of the 2018 Best Western Premier Champion Design Award, is a boutique style hotel featuring floor to ceiling windows offering panoramic views of the Gulf of Mexico. The design caters to the coastal location and leisure clientele, achieving harmony with the building’s surroundings by utilizing a palette that mimics nature in the colors and textures. A mixture of sea and sand inspired materials such as driftwood and oyster shells add an authentic feel, and the art and accessories include meaningful and regionally-inspired content.
The Embassy Suites Minneapolis Airport completed a major renovation in 2019. The redesign of this Mediterranean revival style atrium hotel emphasizes the lake and park living culture of Minneapolis. The design is urban naturalism, combining earthy elements in an updated, urban way, much like the city itself. The color scheme is based on lake blue with mixed woods, copper patinas and earthy green.
The property, completed in 2017, is located in the Saratoga Springs historic district, so the design melds with the charm of the famous horse racing town. The décor hints at an upscale New England inn but pulls in exciting new colors and an eclectic mix of locally crafted furnishings with a touch of rustic modern. This hotel is consistently rated the #1 hotel in Saratoga Springs on Trip Advisor.
The Holiday Inn Express underwent a full renovation in 2018. The hotel offers 920 square feet of mixed use meeting space that doubles as additional lounge and dining breakout. The design was inspired by the navy and white of traditional nautical style and incorporates pops of red and accents such as custom-made rope wall hangings, portal shaped sconces, and fish net pendants.
Scheduled to open Fall 2020, this brand new hotel is LEED certified and sits on the Delaware River and offers spectacular views of the Philadelphia skyline.
