Sweet success: A former sugar refinery is transformed into a boutique hotel
The Mercantile is a boutique hotel in the heart of the Arts and Warehouse District of New Orleans. Located in a historic sugar refinery, the warehouse feel is preserved with the use of brick and steel but also incorporates local artwork and upscale finishes and amenities that create a unique Crescent City experience. The industrial style of The Mercantile’s previous life is celebrated throughout the design from the iron-studded details on the guestroom furniture to the exposed light bulbs and reclaimed wood planked ceiling above the bar. The rich, vibrant colors incorporated throughout the design, are representational of the energetic culture that is New Orleans.
